Support the 2005 Airport Master-plan to develop Southend as a passenger terminal using current runway length.
Do not accept the councils preferred option of runway extension to accept larger passenger and more importantly larger cargo planes which can operate with much less regulation thereby having a significant and adverse noise and environmental impact. Southend should develop as a provincial airport, using smaller planes to serve UK/Northern Europe. This will control freight traffic, which does not benefit the local population, will minimise the environmental impact and will offer gradual and sustainable growth which is in keeping with the forecast European economic outlook.
