It would seem that the airports future could be in doubt given the withdrawal of the major carriers from the site. Given the need to reduce air travel and emissions it may be that the airports long trm viability is in doubt. Obviously the council should work with Southend to support the airport but should it cease to operate contingency pland should be in place for alternative uses.
