I understand the council is subject to the governments national strategy on housing needs and appreciate that we need more houses, the environmental cost must now be considered - and notice taken of the number of houses an area can absorb. Studies should be made to accurately gauge how many houses are actually needed in a specific area - and then how many the area can absorb without detriment. In this area many places are already at risk of flooding. The water authority have stated the numbers of extra houses they can supply - and this is lower than the proposed number stated in the plan. There are quite a few rivers ; the roads are at a standstill the district and flooding is common and quite regular. No provision is made for this; surely vital as no one wants to buy a house with a good risk of flooding. This a commuter area; no assurances are given for how extra passengers can be accommodated on trains and buses ; the roads are at a standstill at peak times. This plan is unsustainable.
