The RSPB supports the COncils commitment towards ensuring the sustainable design of new developements.
The RSPB supports policy 4.9.6, and agree that all development should meet the requirements of the Code for Sustainable Homes. We would recommend that the COuncil commit to ensure all new homes meet a 3 star rating.
We woudl also recommend inclusion of a section detailling the layout of development within a site. This would enable consideration of, the retention of natural features such as hedgerows, provision of communtity greenspaces, opportunties for habitat enhancement, provision of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) etc.
