The only way forward to expand aviation business development is to lengthen the runway. Aircraft operators will not be inclined to schedule flights from a restricted airport and the rail link is unlikely to proceed without a demand to justify it. Without the runway extension, development is likely to be limited to industrial units around the airport perimeter.

Development of the airport and the lengthening of the runway has been proposed many times before. Without a positive decision one way or the other, little enthusiasm can be expected from prospective investors and developers to bring businesses to the current limited facility and its surrounding area.
