Representation Summary:

As your findings show, people like Hockley because of its village feel -it is not a town centre and God forbid it should become one. The lack of big shops is because it is not a suitable place for them. The large elderly population, many of whom do not drive, want a better bus service and access to Hockley.

My Mother lives in Heycroft Road in Hawkwell and a leaflet about a meeting on Sunday 19th April about a Hockley Area Action plan, was the first she or her neighbours had heard about it! They could not get there because it was a Sunday evening.(Not that it was RDC holding a meeting.)
Although we live in Rochford,my family use Hockley station daily, I drive through Hockley daily. Why have we heard nothing about it until now and why have we not heard about it from Rochford Council??

The lack of big shops is because it is not a suitable place for them. The large elderly population, many of whom do not drive, want a better bus service and access to Hockley.Somerfields is a reasonably priced, comfortably sized supermarket for them to use and for those of us who dislike the inpersonal service of large stores.. Those of us with cars can travel futher afield to larger supermarkets if we wish.Hockley is not the place for one.
Please consult people who are to be affected by the proposed redevelopment. Not just the few who may come across it accidentally on your website!
