Q56a. Do you agree with our vision for Rayleigh? Is there anything you feel is missing?
Representation ID: 38142
Received: 25/08/2021
Respondent: Mrs
I do not see how can Rayleigh be a "green and pleasant place" (see your vision statement) when your proposal allows for the construction of hundreds of new houses on Green Belt land. The current infrastructure is poor and cannot cope with the existing population level, eg it can take 30 minutes to get out of Rayleigh; air quality is badly affected by existing traffic levels; the GP surgeries are struggling, making it extremely difficult to get an appointment; schools are over-subscribed (some of the present years at the Fitzwimarc School had a 13 form entry).

Q56c. Are there areas in Rayleigh that development should generally be presumed appropriate?
Representation ID: 38143
Received: 25/08/2021
Respondent: Mrs
There are no areas left in Rayleigh that are appropriate for development. The town is already suffering from over-development, especially over the recent years. Existing residents are already struggling to access the town's services. Traffic levels are unacceptably high with the consequent adverse impact on movement in and out of the area and on air quality and public health.

Q56d. Are there areas that require protecting from development?
Representation ID: 38144
Received: 25/08/2021
Respondent: Mrs
The entirety of Rayleigh needs protection from further large scale development and hundreds more houses. The town already has several large scale developments and there does not appear to be any related improvement in the infrastructure other than the odd roundabout.

Q56e. Do you agree that the local green spaces shown on Figure 44 hold local significance? Are there any other open spaces that hold particular local significance?

Respondent: Mrs
Our local green spaces are vital for the well-being of all residents of Rayleigh as it is already a highly populated and busy town.
The need for green spaces has been clearly demonstrated over the past eighteen months or so of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Our green spaces are good for both our physical and mental health.
