Draft Statement of Community Involvement 2016

Pre-Application Consultation

Representation ID: 34531

Received: 18/05/2016

Respondent: RSPB

Representation Summary:

The RSPB, as Europe's largest wildlife conservation charity, and a significant landowner within the district at Wallasea is well positioned to provide specialist advice on matters relating to species and habitats. We would request that, along with Natural England, our advice is sought at the earliest stage of any development that is likely to have a significant effect on any designated sites1 or our landholdings, to assist the Council with their duty to "conserve and enhance biodiversity" (paragraph 118 of the NPPF).

Dear Sir/Madam,

Draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)
Thank you for your letter of the 16 March 2016 inviting the RSPB to comment on this document.

The RSPB is generally supportive of the draft SCI, but we would ask that the following recommendation is adopted please, in order to meet with the principle laid out in paragraph 155 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), of "early and meaningful engagement...for the sustainable development of the area."
