Policy E3 - Saxon Business Park
Representation ID: 12033
Received: 13/05/2009
Respondent: West Rochford Action Group
Lack of demonstrated need for a new business park. Existing commercial buildings have proved hard to let in the area. A commitment from business to the site is surely needed otherwise this may prove to be a white elephant.

Policy LS2 - Development at London Southend Airport
Representation ID: 12038
Received: 13/05/2009
Respondent: West Rochford Action Group
Strongly object to the airport expansion which will undoubtedly have an adverse effect on a wide residential area. Whilst it may be the aim to be primarily a passenger airport so far there is no decisive evidence that the airlines are prepared to commit to the airport. The reality is that it will be largely used for cargo particularly as freight is the new owner's prime business and this will result in disturbance at night.

Policy LS7 - Operation of New Runway

Provisions regarding cargo noise are totally unsatisfactory. Why should residents put up with regular noise at night just to validate the owner's investment?

Policy T3 - Upgrade to Cherry Orchard Way
Representation ID: 12045
Received: 13/05/2009
Respondent: West Rochford Action Group
Where is the traffic going once it reaches the Hall Road roundabout?
All the road improvement proposals seem to assume that all that is needed is to improve access to the A127. Nowhere does the fact seem to be addressed that the A127 is regularly gridlocked at present without any extra development at all.

Policy ENV1 - Revised green belt boundary
Representation ID: 12049
Received: 13/05/2009
Respondent: West Rochford Action Group
Object very strongly to the revision of the green belt boundary. The areas of Southend and Rochford have become increasingly crowded in recent years making the green belt even more valuable. The status of the green belt should be respected and not seen as expendable for the sake of profit.
