London Southend Airport and Environs Joint Area Action Plan Preferred Options

Issue 1

Representation ID: 4754

Received: 27/02/2009

Respondent: Hillside Rd Residents Association

Representation Summary:

We generally support the Masterplan with the extension of the runway. There must however be constraints on the increased noise levels with an accurately measured prediction of noise levels in terms that the public can understand. This measure must also be included in the consultation. This Masterplan should drastically improve economic and employment opportunities for the area.

Representation ID: 4756

Received: 27/02/2009

Respondent: Hillside Rd Residents Association

Representation Summary:

We agree that the pursuit of increased employment should be a major part of this action Plan, and so should the drive for increasing investment in the area. However, the aquisition of development land must be done sensitively with softer options also being considered. |The balance is crucial in order to also preserve the residential and recreational character of our Seaside Town.

Issue 5

Representation ID: 4759

Received: 27/02/2009

Respondent: Hillside Rd Residents Association

Representation Summary:

The implications of many of these Preferred options need closer scrutiny before decisions are made. We do not like the proposal to use the flying club strip as the passenger focus for the airport. There is a need to preserve valued facilities wherever possible and the flying clubs should remain or be reallocated to a comparable site. Maybe there is a need to improve the facilities for the small flying clubs in the area?
