3.3 POTENTIAL OPPORTUNITY SITES
Representation ID: 9469

Respondent: Owen
Hockley doesn't need a big supermarket, that would be highly detrimental to its character. If any retail to be encouraged it needs small independent shops.
The primary care centre at site H is an easily accessible, useful facility and should be left alone.
Small green spaces add to the character of Hockley and should be left alone, not used as extra parking space.

It would be entirely inappropriate to build a large supermarket in Hockley. It would damage the community and village character. Supermarket employment is tedious and low paid and does not encourage the development of community.
All new retail in Hockley should be independent.
The community hub and associated footpath is a good idea - the supermarket would undermine community building efforts.

Green space adds amenity value and character. Please choose this option if some redevelopment goes ahead.
Using compulsory purchase powers is disruptive to the commercial activities of independent traders and should be discouraged.
