In our representation to the pre-submission document, we welcomed the proposals for the Market Square which would have increased pavement space, reduced parking and potentially relocated the taxi rank. This would have offered notable benefits to the town centre's historic environment through improvements to the public realm. We preferred the more ambitious of the two proposals in the pre-submission document (Figure 12), but would have also welcomed the less radical proposal shown in Figure 11.
The final proposal, shown in MM15, represents little change to the existing layout and use of the Market Square, which is regrettable.
