Why reverse entrance and exit to the square? This is ill thought through and will cause further congestion with cars waiting to enter AND exit into west Street. Buses will also experience further delays and issues accessing the square.

1. I support the benefits you are trying to bring to the Market Square ie less taxi ranks, 1 more disabled space, overall 2 more parking places.
2. BUT, you have not solved the problem of the tail-back of traffic awaiting parking and completely blocking West Street and also South and North Street at times. By reversing the entrance and exit cars could be queuing to get out too, together with these queuing to get in and needing to get between the taxi rank and the bus stop. This would cause impossible congestion and gridlock. This worsens even the present situation and needs to be readdressed.

We regret the modification to Table 1, which draws back from more ambitious proposals to enhance the Market Square through reduced parking and a relocated taxi rank. This would have resulted in notable benefits for the historic environment of the town centre.

With reference to the proposed alteration to the entrance/exit to the Market Square that the taxi rank west be moved and the space used for vehicles waiting to enter the square, thus reducing the delay to buses and large vehicles entering West Street from South Street, and have 'no waiting' between North Street and West Street entrance of Square (car park exit). The taxi rank then could be moved to the top end of Back Lane car park.

As I have already commented, I think to reverse the entrance and exit to the Market Square for traffic would be a great mistake causing even greater congestion and impossibility to flow for traffic in West Street and gridlock going back to the corner and into South Street etc.
I cannot see any reason in favour of such a proposal, whether it includes yellow box junctions or not.
