The town centres of Rayleigh, Rochford and Hockley and future plans for them are closely linked to the economic development of the District. The varied approach being taken to develop these town centres is supported but consideration should be given to expressing the mix of uses and economic impact of future anticipated development in each town centre in a more quantitative fashion. Also, there should be some recognition of the role and purpose of the town centres beyond retail uses.
