(1) Living directly under the flightpath my quality life will be severely impacted
(2) Thought the government / councils were meant to improve the environment and not poison it
(3) Road connections to Southend are already over congested
(4) All promises of increased employment opportunities in other regional airport development have never been met.
(5) The SE already has 4 international airports for passenger travel.
(6) Investing in air travel can only be short term given oil becoming scarce / expensive in the next 10 years.

Southend is over crowded as it is - traffic appalling, too many flats being built, Town Centre is a no-go area in the evening.

Houses will be de-valued as has been seen around Stansted and the noise from the airport at night is already unacceptable.

An opportnuity is being missed here. This policy should only put in place if it is linked to the operation of the airport ie. restrictions in numbers of flights, noise produced, type of aircraft allowed, etc. No flights of any kind at night. I object strongly to any additional noise produced from Southend airport and if this policy contributes to this, I object to it.

I object to the expansion of Southend Airport as this will mean planes low over our houses every 5 minutes at busy times, up to 30 noisy freight flights a night . A huge increase in noise and air pollution and more traffic on our congested roads. A number of people will lose their homes in the area. The value of people's homes will fall, putting even more people into negative equity. I feel there will be very few new jobs created as well as an increase in harmful greenhouse gas emissions. I therefore strongly object to the expansion.

expansion of this size will create many problems to the area; quality
of life of residents living there. Problems include:- unwanted increase in
aircraft noise; increased road traffic resulting in further congestion on
already busy roads; devaluation on many homes affected by increase in
noise, traffic & pollution; increase in general air pollution; decrease
in everyone's quality of life but especially to anyone unfortunate enough
to live near the flight paths plus the destruction and major inconvenience
of businesses & houses who happen to be in the way of this development

There will be an increased risk of serious air accidents over heavily populated residential areas if the repair and maintenance facilities are extended. There are already incidents where unsafe aircraft fly into Southend Airport and there have been small accidents with inexperienced pilots - the risk of more serious accidents will dramatically increase. There have already been crashes at overseas airports, Amsterdam (cargo flight) and Madrid (passenger flight). This would be catastrophic near Southend, particularly as several schools are already on the flight path.
